چکیده

Shrinkage and warpage is a leading fact in casting. It is common to compensate shrinkage by scaling the tool by a certain percentage. The transformed 3D CAD model of a final product is used for tool generation. The transformations of CAD model include 3D scaling or external surface offset. Both methods are proportional and uniform in all three axes, and they are already included in a vast variety of CAD software packages. The shrinkage and warpage process, however, is not necessarily uniform, and some portions of a product can have different shrinkage ratio. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce the new CAD transformation technique: non-proportional 3D scaling. This paper deals with estimation of 3D function that should be used to transform the 3D CAD model of a tool, in order to obtain the optimum result. The casting tool and sample castings are measured on a coordinate measuring machine, and these measurement results are used to estimate the shrinkage percentage needed for different parts of a CAD model.

Optimal Offline Compensation of Shape Shrinkage for 3D Printing Processes

Dimensional accuracy is a key control issue in direct 3D printing. Part shrinkage due to material phase changes often leads to final shape deviations, requiring extra postmachining steps for correction. Shrinkage has traditionally been analyzed through finite element simulation and experimental investigations. Systematic models for accuracy control through shrinkage compensation are hardly avai...

Consequences of diffusion theory for shrinkage of concrete *

The paper reriel\"s the known consequences of diffusion theory for the mathematical modelling of shrinkage, including the si::e dependence of drying half-time, and the initial and final asymptotic shapes of the time cun'es of total moisture loss, to which shrinkage is proportional. The mathematical arguments are extended and presented with greater rigour and generality than before, taking the n...

Shrinkage correction of volume phase holograms for optical interconnects

The film shrinkage effect of photopolymeric phase media failed to provide the desired volume holograms for point-to-point optical interconnects. In this paper, we report a new compensation method to physically correct the shrinkage effect resulted from the holographic recording and the post baking. Dupont photopolymer HRF-600X001 is studied. The correction of the Bragg diffraction angle shift o...

Effective Expansion: Balance between Shrinkage and Hygroscopic Expansion.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between hygroscopic expansion and polymerization shrinkage for compensation of polymerization shrinkage stresses in a restored tooth. One resin-modified glass-ionomer (RMGI) (Ketac Nano, 3M ESPE), 2 compomers (Dyract, Dentsply; Compoglass, Ivoclar), and a universal resin-based composite (Esthet•X HD, Dentsply) were tested. Volumetric...
